sutra 3.9

व्युत्थाननिरोधसंस्कारयोरभिभवप्रादुर्भावौ निरोधक्षणचित्तान्वयो निरोधपरिणामः ॥ ३.९ ॥

3.9 vyutthānanirodhasamskārayorabhibhavaprādurbhāvau nirodhaksanacittānvayo nirodhaparināmah

vyutthāna = emergence

nirodha = mastery

saṁskāras = cravings, aversions, attachments, habitual reactions & behaviors; ego identity

abhibhava = disappearance, subsiding

pradurbhavau = manifesting, appearance

nirodhah-ksana = moments of mastery

cittānvaya = conscious connection with

nirodhah-parinamah = transition to nirodhah

As nirodha (mastery of the vortexes of consciousness) emerges, your saṁskāras begin to subside. Before they return, consciously connect with these moments and know that you are making the transition to nirodha.

As your mastery over your mental vortexes emerges, your personality traits, habits, and conditioned behaviors begin to subside. Before they return, consciously connect with these moments of freedom and know that you are making a transition to complete freedom from the ego.
